Miserable, melancholic, almost doomy death metal drenched in atmosphere. The vocals on this thing have to be heard to be believed, truly horrifying! This is certainly one of the most outstanding records of the year and will be making an appearance high on my albums of the year list for sure!

With a certain maturity and poise, a sense of deep-set misery almost pushes the record into death-doom territory. Almost… but not quite. The sound remains tensely energetic, albeit with a sense of space, time and songcraft which is more impressive than ever.
Gruesomely textured wraith-like melodies intertwine monstrously hammering double-bass rhythms, the delicate interplay of guitar harmonies threading a perfect line between devious subtlety and straight-ahead bludgeon.
Perhaps above all else, the gasping tortured vocals imbue a horrific terror upon the listener. It is the sum of all parts which so masterfully elevate Ataraxy above their peers. Few others have scaled such heights; in this timeless classic we witness a band enter the pantheon of death metal royalty.

Pure and raw frightening death metal. There is something about this band that feels really attractive to me. It is something similar to what happened to me listening to Genocide Pact, both of them have something special and different from the rest that I really appreciate. Not the typical guitar sounds and vibe. Witch Vomit feels really brutal and serious and terrifying and also melodic and musical at the same time. It is worth giving it several listens if you like death music.
